25 years is not a little thing, especially for the underground legends like Potbelly, which I had the honor of doing an interview with their frontman, Jason Robert Rodger for news portal, Solin Live. With over a hundred released albums, singles & EPs as well splits with big names like 10 Minute Warning, The Accüsed, Toe Tag, MDC, Misfits, D.I., Fang. The list goes to the infinity. Although they are not shouted as bullshit like Green Day, Potbelly is most important name of today’s hardcore. This gang consists of: Jason Robert Rodger (Vocals), Ken Ball (Vocals/bass), Christen Ogden (Vocals/guitar) and Boner (Vocals/drums). Of course, we had to remember former members like: Curtis Jay (drums) who unfortunately passed away, Chris Thayer (guitar), Corey Hansen (vocals), Hans Haneberg (guitar) and Jeff Thayer (drums, guitar). As a true hardcore band, Potbelly does not save guitar strings, drum parts & sticks as well vocal cords. To tell us about the dark side of life as well about their great inspiration: the 45th president of USA; Donald John Trump. I know this sounds like true horror, but it would be good if Trump gets another president mandate, because Potbelly would make better music, like they did on Dethrone Your Master EP with D.I.. Also i had to mention the genius who runs PIG Records, David Portnow (which kinda reminds me of Blofeld). If PIG Records were SST, Potbelly would be like Black Flag, when you put cards on deck.. Although they do frequent tours, unfortunately, they have not yet set foot on European soil, but it doesn’t diminish their value. On the contrary, it only adds value to them, adding a dose of mystique to them. So instead of listening to a, “punk rock“ like Green Shi.. I mean Day, just turn on Potbelly. You won’t regret it.
25. godina nije mala stvar, pogotovo za underground legende kao što su Potbelly, čime sam imao čast raditi intervju s njihovim frontmenom, Jason Robert Rodgerom za news portal, Solin Live. S preko stotinu objavljenih albuma, singlica & EP-a, kao i splitovi s velikim imenima kao što su like 10 Minute Warning, The Accüsed, Toe Tag, MDC, Misfits, D.I., Fang. Popis ide u beskonačnost. Iako nisu razvikani poput sranja znano kao Green Day, Potbelly je najvažnije je ime današnjeg hardcorea. Uz Jasona, bandu čine: Ken Ball (vokal/bas), Christen Ogden (vokal/gitara), Boner (vokal/bubnjevi). Naravno, moramo se sjetiti bivših članova kao što su: Curtis Jay (bubnjevi) koji je nažalost preminuo, Chris Thayer (gitara), Corey Hansen (vokal), Hans Haneberg (gitara) i Jeff Thayer (bubnjevi,gitara). Kao istinski hardcore bend, Potbelly neštedi gitarističke žice, dijelove bubnjeva & glasnice kako bi nam rekli o mračnoj strani života kao i o njihovoj velikoj inspiraciji: 45. predsjedniku SAD-a ; Donald John Trumpu. Znam da bi ovo moglo zvučati kao pravi horor, ali mislim da bi bilo dobro da Trump dobije još jedan predsjednički mandat, zato jer bi Potbelly radio sjajnu glazbu, kao što su napravili na Dethrone Your Master EP s D.I.. Također, moram spomeniti genija koji vodi PIG Records, David Portnow (što me nekako podsjeća na Blofelda). Ako bi PIG Records bili SST (kultna punk diskografska kuća, op.prev.), Potbelly bi bili Black Flag (perjanica SST-a, op.prev.), kada bacimo karte na stol… Iako rade česte turneje, nažalost, još nisu kročili nogom na europsko tlo, no to svejedno ne umanjuje njihovu vrijednost. Naprotiv, to im samo pojačava vrijednost, dodavajući im dozu mistike. Tako da umjesto slušanja „punk rocka“ kao Green Shit, mislim Day, samo okrenite na Potbelly. Nećete požaliti.
