Nova Engleska, 1630. godina. Doseljenička sedmeročlana obitelj je izopćena iz kolonijalnog puritanskog naselja. Obitelj se preseli na zabačeno i izolirano mjesto uz šumu, ubrzo ostaju bez novaca i hrane, ali i bez najmlađeg sina koji nestaje bez traga.
Nakon malo duže pauze, evo me ponovo nazad sa, vjerovali ili ne, još jednim serijalom (obećajem da će serijal biti kraći od Lynchevog). Redatelj Robert Eggers mi je jedan od zanimljivijih živućih filmaša, a njegova prva dva filma (The VVitch 2015. i The Lighthouse 2019.) smatram vrhunskim filmskim ostvarenjima.
Otkad sam pogledala The VVitch, film me ne napušta, često ga se sjetim i o njemu razmišljam. Film je turoban i visceralan, i pruža osjećaj izoliranosti i potpune slobode – sve u jednom. Jako volim ovaj film iako sam Robert Eggers ima kritike na njega što je i razumljivo jer mu je ovo ipak redateljski debi, ali mislim da je prestrog prema sebi. Ako niste pogledali film, svakako ga pogledajte jer bit će spojlera na sve strane!

I had a dream. In fact, it was the night I met you. In the dream, there was our world, and the world was dark because there weren’t any robins and the robins represented love. And for the longest time, there was just this darkness. And all of a sudden, thousands of robins were set free, and they flew down and brought this blinding light of love. And it seemed like that love would be the only thing that would make any difference. And it did. So, I guess it means there is trouble ’til the robins come.
